▶다른 카바사에 비해 구슬이 많고 소리가 부드럽습니다.
▶카바사란 브라질어로 표주박을 뜻하는 단어입니다. 마라카스 (maracas)와 마찬가지로 마라카의 나무 열매를 건조시켜 속을 파낸 다음 그 속에 조약돌을 넣고 겉부분에는 구슬을 그물처럼 얽어맨 악기입니다.
▶최근에는 도금한 금속제 구슬을 실이나 철사로 꿴 다음에 무늬가 새겨진 스테인리스 스틸 원통에 둘러서 만든 것이 많이 나옵니다.
▶사용법은 왼손으로 겉에 붙어 있는 구슬을 가볍게 누른 채 오른손으로 악기의 손잡이를 좌우로 비틀어 연주합니다. 음률적인 소리가 나는데 마라카스와 쉐이커(shaker)에 가까운 음색을 띠며 라틴 아메리카 음악에서 없어서는 안 되는 중요한 리듬 악기입니다.
