Tomás Marco - Siete Rubayats for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and Cello. This work was written in 2008 in memory of Adolfo Salazar and dedicated to the Conservatory that bears his name. The title is a memory of the most famous composition by Salazar, but it does not directly take materials nor the underlying poems by Omar Khayyam. I have kept the idea of the short poem and the work consists of seven chained pieces not very long. The score uses the cello and three wind instruments: flute, oboe and clarinet. The cello doesn't act as a solo instrument, but rather as a relatively dominant one. The entire play takes place around the timbral differences and colors, suggesting an abstract poetic evocation.
