Sergio Fidemraizer - Obertura del Alba for Flute, Clarinet, Violin, Cello, Piano and Percussion. This piece is the overture or instrumental introduction of my chamber opera "First Light (2005)". The text is by Edgardo Dobry and its premiere was in the Pocket Opera Festival of Barcelona '05. The music describes a nocturnal atmosphere in which mystery and tenderness merge. The plot of the opera begins in the bench of a square in which a woman awakes alone a moment before sunrise. The story that emerges from the characters has always a point of unreality, which is where the nature of this overture comes from. The piece can be interpreted from an independent point of view and, in fact, it was premiered in 2004 in the "Sala Tisner" in Barcelona performed by the Ensemble Diapason.

Instrumentation:

  • Flute
  • Clarinet
  • Violin
  • Cello
  • Piano
  • Percussion
